Rich, deep purple and plenty of nose. Full flavored, with blue- and blackberry, earth, mint/menthol, an herbal component. Lovely tannins. Bright acidity provides some balance. Good length too. This was a gift from John Behler and it takes me back to our drive by the actual Papa's Knoll, with its elderly vines.

Paired with steak with mustard cream sauce. Held its own well. Dark berry nose and taste. Tannins are well integrated and in the background, but the rich sauce did not deter from the flavors. Would have preferred it to be a tad more tannic to compliment the food mouthfeel but neither overpowewerd.
