From magnum - quite a bit of sediment in neck so recommend decanting. This is still going strong and should last for at least another decade. The nose was really pretty - subtle cherries and potpourri of herbs. The mouthfeel is silky and lightweight (this is not a heavy handed CA PN), red fruits, tart acidity, earthy loam, dried leaves and black tea. Pretty, well balanced and elegant - a real pleasure.

We brought this wine to Spoon River in Minneapolis and had a transcendent wine experience. The faded cloudy color of the wine indicated the age but the smooth complexity was sublime.

My favorite Cali Pinot. From 750ml. Not over extracted. Delicate and nuanced. 4 years since my last bottle. I would say this are fully mature. Starting to brown - but still absolutely delish.

Book Club - Magnumfest; 4/25/2017-4/27/2017 (The Winery, Newport Beach, CA): Blind from Mag. Guessed Cali pinot noir but was all over the nebbiolo thing for awhile. The nose is what ultimately pulled me back to pinot. As background, Steve has told me stories about this wine, one of his favorite california pinots and it delivered tonight. It's light colored and shows some aging in the form of bricking at the edges. Looks like Neb in the glass but the nose screams cali pinot and cherry fruit. Very fine tannins and light oak throughout. Seems age worthy. I really like this wine.

Poured from magnum, served blind. And of note, was put alongside the 2007 Rivers-Marie Summa, also poured the same way--blind and from mag. Both wines really showed well, although they did show differently. As to this School House, aromatics of Asian five spice and perfume. There was light rustic quality to the palate, with cranberry and spicy (my notes have this underscored) cherry. Plenty of acidity and energy, this showed beautifully and I could really drink this again with a smile. Lovely.
