Cepages Bordeaux Tasting (North End Grill; New York City): Opened our Cepages Bordeaux tasting with this novelty. Most of us never even knew this producer made a white wine. Golden brownish in color, showing its age. Reticent nose at first, started to show aromas of butterscotch after sitting in glass for awhile. Oily & viscous on the palate, with an attractive round sense of minerality. Fairly dry, with good length. Not much in the way of fruit here--perhaps some apple, but lovely minerality, some eucalyptus & wonderful freshness more than compensated. Interesting too that, halfway thru the bottle, our shellfish order arrived. Now the acidity burst thru (not that it was flabby previously), but the wine really changed/became much more engaging to me with oysters and clams. Everyone loved this wine, (some voted it WOTN, incredibly, if you note our lineup). A lovely, delicious and intriguing wine, and a great way to begin our tasting.

Opened with Shanghainese food at Shanghai #1 Seafood restaurant in San Gabriel, CA. My group was split on this one. Half of us, including myself, felt it was a tad over the hill but still drinkable. The other half loved it. No one hated it.

Same as last note. Orange color, completely oxidized and undrinkable. 0/2 is simply not acceptable for a white bordeaux at this age at this price. Very disappointing.

Cork was intact. Medium orange color; nose is sherried; palate is completely oxidized/vinegar. Very unfortunate... I have one last bottle left, but this is not promising.

Yikes, totally oxidised and undrinkable. The first bottle of this that I had was great. Not sure what went wrong here.
