the bouquet really does nothing for me but it is wine full of character and some complexity - still some tannins but no idea where it goes from here....

Very atypical nose, sweet banana bread, nail polish, almost tropical. Can it be new oak and hence the new-world character? Nice secondary flavor developing with crushed rock on the bed of red fruit. Can still wait for couple more years.

Nose of cherry, coffee, leather, and oaky vanilla. The palate shows more elegance and femininity, with less oak dominance, sweet red fruit and minerality. Balanced acidity. Tannins are a tad drying. I am generally a fan of Grasso's Baroli but this effort may not have the fruit to counter the 100% new oak.

Decanted from magnum. Nose of oak, smoke, tar and dark fruit. Minerals and tannins more prominent than fruit on the palate, finishing with vanilla and coffee notes.

almost a "porty" nose disguises a delicious and, to my perhaps naive tastes, fully mature wine
