  • Still drinking really well. A nice full barolo that is close to it's peak in my cellar. Just opened the first bottle of a case.

  • Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. This 20+ year-old Nebbiolo was delicious. Medium ruby-garnet, with some brown hues on the rim. The nose is clean and quite complex, with tart red fruit, red plums, sweet baking spices and tertiary aromas of tobacco, smoke, forest floor. The palate is consistent with the nose, but even more vibrant, with nice ripe fruit, medium acidity, medium (+) to pronounced tannins and medium (+) alcohol (14% but seems lower). This very balanced wine, from a classic vintage, is drinking really well, with several years of drinkability left. The balance between the fruit and structure, 20 years out, is a thing of beauty.

  • Beautiful wine. Red berries, crushed flowers, mocha, and aged leather. Beautiful weight and the tannins were fine and soft.

  • Aperto tre ore prima di servirlo. Naso piacevole fin dall'apertura senza segni di riduzione. Bel colore intenso ancora per nulla virato all'aranciato. Naso di media intensità ma complesso e molto nebbiolesco con rosa e viola, sopra uno strato di mora e ribes. La tostatura del legno piccolo è ormai ben integrata e si intuisce solo dietro la cannella, il chiodo di garofano, la noce moscata, e sentori di terra sottobosco e di tabacco. Al palato tannino evoluto ma succoso e bella acidità fanno pensare che abbia ancora anni di evoluzione davanti. Il finale non lunghissimo è l'unica caratteristica che non consente una valutazione ancora più alta. Comunque bella bottiglia.

    Opened three hours before serving. Pleasant nose since the opening. Nice deep color not bricked ago all. Very nebbiolesque nose, complex but of medium intensity, with rose and violet, over a layer of blackberry and black currant. Oak is now well integrated behind cinnamon, clove, and hints of earth and underbrush and of tobacco. At palate evolved but juicy tannins and a nice acidity make you think it still has years of development ahead. Thenot extremely long finall is the only feature that does not allow an assessment even higher. However beautiful bottle.
