  • This is the oldest bottle of Merry Edwards I have tried. I came prepared with a back up bottle, but it wasn't necessary at all. I was surprised by the freshness of this wine. It got better with air. The nose had blackberry and pepper notes. The palate was a refreshing mix of bright berry fruit, smooth tannins and bracing acidity. A bit of a pepper note continued across the palate. The impression was one of great balance and lovely structure. The finish was long and echoed the palate. Just a lovely wine at 21 years of age. I'd drink these up over the next year or two if you have any. With roasted salmon and a kale, cannellini and bacon ragout.

(Merry Edwards Pinot Noir Olivet Lane Vineyard) From magnum - dark, slightly bricking red color with pale meniscus; intriguing dark cherry, mineral and soy sauce nose; maturing but still powerful raspberry, black cherry palate with depth and years to go; medium-plus finish (100% Martini clone)
