Look: Clear, garnet in color. No bits of cork or sediment.
Smell: warm oaks, wood, tannic smell, balanced with honey, maybe dark flowers like violets. Inconsistent Leather notes up front.
Taste: black fruit up front. Oak all the way thru. clear crisp finish. Outstanding Tannic balance.
This was a great wine, far past it’s time. It’s still a good wine showing balance and the craft Merry Edward’s is known for, but the body has departed and we’re left with questions over what might have been.

I was impressed by how this has aged over 12 years. Not the bright red fruits of its youth, but it really developed nice depth. Drink in the next couple years for sure.

Garnet colored.
Slow oxidized for two hours to blow off some of the funk
Has smell of red fruit, lychee, some leather.
Past it’s prime but still enjoyable
Taste tertiary flavor. Still some fruits with blueberries, blackberries. Very fine tannin and some oak still there. Acidity still there.
Nice aged Pinot

Garnet colored.
Cassis smell.
Has slight funk. More tobacco and some leather flavor along with fading black fruit.
Still nice acid and fine tannin.
Back end of maturity but still enjoyable

Good but a bit past, part of a vertical with 04 and 06, much better than 06, paled compared to 04.
