A little four-square. Some nice floral and white fruit tones, and some nutty and flinty notes. But it's a little bit rough on the palate, almost like the heat from too much alcohol. Not bad but disappointing given expectations.
On the nose, yellow apples, nuts, smoke, a certain sweetness, butter but still with a hint of minirality. On the palate Yellow apples, chalk, nuts, butter, mineral, stone. a brilliant and compex wine which developed during the evening.
Insanely complex wine. I was afraid that this would be too far gone and oxidized, but when I opened the cork a lovely fragrance arouse from the bottle. When I poured it into the decanter, I almost fainted from the beautiful, deep & complex aroma that spread. I kept some of this wine in my glass and followed it during the evening, and it kept evolving and turning several times. The nose is incredibly complex, with some oxidized tones of yellow apples, smoke, sweetness, autumn leaves, nuts, butter and orange peels. On the palate it behaves the same, keeps turning and twisting during the evening. Lovely and complex, mature, but still with a nerve present. Fat chalky oily mature fruit and flinty minerals in the spine, balanced and with a great, long finish. Very fine indeed, actually an extraordinary wine! Especially given the vintage. Time to drink up.
This was a breathtaking wine especially so because I was expecting Premox when I opened it. Well it was in its prime and decide to shine all night (6 hours in the glass).Impeccable balanc, intriguing nose and long taste - a true star showing off Everything its got. This was my last bottle but for those of you that have some left - open and keep your fingers crossed that that you get lucky and have a bottle that has managed to escape Premox.... If so you are in for a joy ride :)
