1993 Burgundy Lunch (The Ledbury, London): This too had a slightly sweaty nose, elusive at first, it grew nuttier and ended up toffeeish. A pleasant enough burgundy on the downward slope, but disappointing for a Montrachet.
WIMPS 1993 Burgundy Lunch (The Ledbury, London): WIMPS 1993 Burgundy Lunch- Light to medium gold color, looked a little more developed then the leflaive batard. on the nose a touch of apricot and some oxidation. it really didnt give much for the first hour then started to become a bit nuttier, like hazelnuts. it filled out a bit as well but never really sang. perhaps, like in real life, it is hard to shine while standing next to Anne-Claude
UK Wine Pages WIMPs 1993 Burgundy Lunch (The Ledbury, Notting Hill, London): Medium gold. Closed at first (perhaps served a touch cold), showing ripe stone fruit as it warms but also some nutty, oxidative aromas. Stone fruit and creamy oak on the palate, full bodied, plump, but again oxidative notes - quite advanced. Lacking depth on the mid-palate, long finish though with some orangey acidity. **
Unpromising closed nose developed into a series of strong powerful but subtle fruit and spice aromas. Wonderfully long, this is a wine really to sit back and enjoy in peace and quiet. Don’t serve cold - about 15 degrees is possibly right nor should you serve it with any powerful food as the subtleties could easily get lost and that would be such a shame....
