Opened and let sit for an hour. Used a Durand to remove the cork - intact and in fair condition. Zalto Universal stem. Dark purp[le color. Not showng much sign of bircking. Nose offers some dark fruits, touch of menthol and tobacco and licorice root. Good fruit flavor with sufficient acidity. An elegant wine with freshness and some zip while showing complexity with layers of mint, fresh tobacco and red fruit. I was surprised at the freshness and depth of fruit still present in a 28 year old wine. Enjoyable.

Soft, deep black fruit, aniseed and vanilla with soft tannins and gentle acidity, full bodied, mature and stylish wine with lengthy liquorice flavoured finish.

Had a glass using a Corbin needle. The cork was not sufficiently fixed and moved under the gas pressure. I thought the wine would be oxidised and faulty, however it was still fresh and great to drink. Sad to say it is my last bottle. The wine, deep garnet with cherry spice and oak on the nose. Still retaining some juicy cooked fruit in the pallet with well integrated tannins with chocolate coffee and leather. Drinking very well. All in n all a lovely wine. A.

This is a wine all about bottle bouquet and mature, tertiary flavors in harmony with dried dark fruits, refined smooth tannins, and adequate acidity holding the wine together for a solid hour. Mushroom, tar, prune, dried blueberries and blackberry, cedar, vanilla, forest floor, and baking spices. Probably the oldest Syrah I have had. Great experience, drink upon opening and without decant (let the glass do it).

Cork - short and barely stained. Still maintains a crimson edge and a dark core. Blueberry, cassis, tobacco, earth. Tannins are well integrated as you would expect. There’s good persistence and intensity, and the finish is also quite long. Just a lovely, old Australian shiraz doing its thing.
