| | Tasted by VoteferPedro on 2/1/2010 & rated 94 points: This is a profound and complete wine decanted one hour prior to enjoying I have little to add to my note from 2 years ago but the cassis and cedar are on the nose and cassis and cherry on the tongue. Long superlative finish. (436 views) |

| | Tasted by PBCguy on 12/17/2009 & rated 91 points: tight upon opening but really opened in the decanter. Really special after an hour. Deep color, spice on the finish. Would have been even better if it was decanted for 2 hours or so before drinking. Probably great to keep cellared for a while as well. (1074 views) |

| | Tasted by sbeeks on 11/10/2009 & rated 88 points: Decantd for 2 hours. A bit flat, but we drank this after the 1996 Opus One, which had a great earthy tone. Tight, didn't really open (1339 views) |
| | Tasted by Grinner on 11/1/2009 & rated 92 points: 13th Annual Lyon 10 year Retrospective (Eugene, Oregon): Dark color still, with black fruit and hints of oak and mint. Slightly hot but depth, texture, and length merit the score. (1292 views) |
| | Tasted by yonster24 on 10/30/2009: Dark Ruby color. I took one whiff of this, looked at my wife and said "This smells like Napa." Classic, well made Napa-Cab. Enticing nose black currant, dark fruits, some leather and earth. The palate delivered on the promise of the nose. Just an outstanding wine all around. Still extremely young and has an untold amount of years ahead of this. It was only getting better as we reached for the last glass... (1542 views) |

| | Tasted by flashvictor on 9/11/2009 & rated 94 points: Deep ruby color leads to a beautiful nose of currant, blackberry, white pepper, and a hint of vanilla. The meduim-full body has wonderful flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, currant and mint with a sprinkle of sage and anise. Well integrated finish lasts 35 seconds. This is just entering its drinking window. I would recommend at least an hour decant currently for an optimal experience. Yum! (1833 views) |
| | Tasted by wineismylife on 9/3/2009: WIMLNR. Wine was still partially closed. If drinking now be sure and give it some air but I recommend waiting another 2-3 years before trying. (1874 views) |

| | Tasted by kstoddard on 8/9/2009 & rated 88 points: From magnum. Dark ruby color. Black fruit nose. Tastes of blackberry, currant, violet, earth and cherry. Reasonably well balanced. Unmemorable finish. A well made wine but nothing out the ordinary. Quite disappointing especially with how much this wine costs. (2222 views) |

| | Tasted by mghomula on 6/17/2009 & rated 95 points: Wine #3 of the Birthday Week Wine Experience Decanted for 3 hours. I was really looking forward to this wine as I have had it in my cellar for nearly 9 years and it did not disappoint. In the glass it was deep purple edging toward black with some red hue toward the edge. Really beautiful to look at. Nosing the wine brought an intense and focused bouquet of ripe blackberries, plums, black cherry, cocoa powder, mint and vanilla. Full bodied with just a wonderful silky smooth mouthfeel of juicy blackberries, black cherry, chocolate, vanilla, mint with hints of cedar. The finish was long and extracted with more dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla and a hint of anise. Wow, really a long, elegant and supple finish. Tannins are really soft and well integrated and their is a bright and bursting acidity that keeps it all in tremendous balance. This is a stellar Cabernet in true Montelena style. Wish I had a case left! 50+5+14+18+8=95pts. (2521 views) |
| | Tasted by Susanville43 on 6/13/2009 & rated 90 points: Decanted about 45 minutes at Two Restaurant. Not a strong nose but the soft tannins and dark cherry,/chocolate made for a great bottle. Not sure it'll get much better. (2465 views) |
| | Tasted by Hollowleg on 5/30/2009 & rated 87 points: Served at Moloney & Porchellie Steak House in NYC. Paled in comparison to the '05 Insignia which was easily the WOTN. Decanted & let sit in the glass for 30-40 minutes. This was flat & one dimensional, falling far short of the '03 Estate which I had recently. (2528 views) |
