  • Muted on the nose. Big and oily texture. Comes across as a little flat with lacking in acidity. Hopefully just a phase. Lots of stuffing.

  • Second tasting following last note. Similar nose but palate was smoother, less acidic, little more butter, well balanced and quite complex. Another great pairing with sushi.

  • Nicely balanced with many subtle flavors and decent length. Went pretty well with sushi.

Classic Burgundy nose with power and depth. Lovely.

  • Aged for 12-15 months in oak barrels of which 25% were new and 75% at least once used.

Medium-deep lemony yellow color. Surprisingly subtle and restrained nose that manages to be enjoyably nuanced at the same time with layered, complex aromas of ripe golden apples, creamy richness suggesting long oak aging, some smoky toasty tones, a little bit of vanilla, light peachy fruit, a hint of ginger and a perfumed touch of wild flowers. The wine is rich, full-bodied and quite weighty on the palate with some obvious ripeness, yet the wine shows a lot of structure and great sense of balance at the same time, thanks to the high acidity. There are bold flavors of toasty smoke, sweet red apples, ripe peach-driven stone fruits, some savory wood spice, a little bit of rough stony minerality, light creamy oak, a bitter hint of apple skin and a touch of crème à la vanille. The finish is long, mineral and acid-driven with quite robust flavors of ripe citrus fruits, apple peel bitterness, some juicy red apples, a little bit of toasty oak, light creamy richness, a hint of tart lemony citrus fruit and a touch of apricot.

A massive powerhouse of a Burgundy. The wine feels like a mere baby now with lots of everything except for finesse. Feels like a wine that'll need at least another 10 years before starting to settle down. No point opening any bottles anytime soon. Impressive and although quite balanced for its size, the wine still feels a bit too clumsy at this stage. Holds a lot of promise. Despite being an impressive blockbuster, I still ain't sure if the wine is really worth the 98,30€.
