Opened 2 hours before drinking. At the start closed but after another hour it started to open. Well integrated sweet blue fruit, vanilla, soft and silky, medium bodied, medium finish.

Tasted blind. The color is just insanely dark and the wine is totally opaque. I was just chocked when the vintage was revealed. Beside that, the wine was balanced and showed a good sense of place. It is surprisingly intense for a 2002 (and dark obviously) but with plenty of dark fruits, cigar box and cedar notes, it is enjoyable to drink. Maybe a tad too concentrated but certainly not bad. Has it been manipulated to show like this in such vintage? Probably....

(Chateau Belle-vue) #3; COLOR-dark; NOSE-funky; farm-esque (Hungarian Oak); TASTE-so many 2nd & 3rd tier flavors (Asian spice; pencil shavings for days, olives; funkiness; black & red fruits); this is thought provoking wine; JD says, "incredible class & complexity; a little leaner and has wonderful bright fruit complexity that some of the '03's aren't going to have"; WS-87; GV-90+

Still holding up well. Seems almost more concentrated and murky. Still good fruit with strong earthy undertones.

Drink now as the fruit and the earthiness are in perfect balance. Long finish with notes of dirt , blackberry, and a hint of plum.
