Third bottle from a set of four purchased at auction in 2010 (as part of a larger, mixed JJ Confuron lot). Pristine condition, perfect level and cork. Not decanted. Delicate and fragrant, cool and minerally, balances freshness and tertiary evolution, good complexity (crushed red berries, rosehip, white nuts, forest floor, warm spices, hint of earth), tannins are still firm but have a very fine texture, length is very good, the dried fruit indicates full maturity. After 4 to 5 hours it becomes coarser on the palate and less ethereal on the nose. Lovely wine, drink soon.

5th of 6, decanted 30 minutes, perfect cork and level - medium dusty red, brown rim; attractive cherry/plum nose, lightly spiced with a touch of sous bois; medium bodied, long, quite persistent and nicely balanced, fruit just a little muted and lacking grip, fully mature. F (17.5).

A private dinner (Restaurant Aan de Poel **, Amstelveen, NL): Fresh, cool, mineral, very primary and youthful for age, opens up beautifully, red berries and a hint of undergrowth, red earth, deep and intense but very elegant, roses from the stalks, energetic, silky but still with lovely tannic grip, good length.

Wonderfully silky and balanced, smoky, complex, lifted fresh aromas of raspberry, rosehip and undergrowth, hint of leather, lovely depth, red earth and Vosne Asian spice, wonderful intensity; lively, elegant, cool minerality, juicy acidity, tannins now perfectly integrated, excellent length. Now - 2020. Delicious, a perfect bottle.

Brick colour, a little cherry with a decaying forest floor nose in a good pinot way. Earthy, round and slightly leathery on the palate and a nice finish, not as good as some Vosne's I've had in the same year but still a classic, but drink up soon, at the end of its good drinking life.
