Deep ruby. Raspberry and a touch of spice on the nose. Bright with vibrant acidity on the attack, backed up by raspberry fruit before the acidity comes back on the reasonably long finish. Overall a little one dimensional. Ultimately this lacks complexity, a slightly dusty raspberry monotone, but went well with a grouse salad. Quite a lot to like though, and the bottle does appear to be empty. ***1/2

2007 France Trip - Cheze, Faury, Ferraton, Coursodon (Northern Rhone): Ripe and wide open on the nose. Crushed blackberries and anise. The midpalate picks up some game/animal notes, along with tobacco and forest floor. Minerals and baking spices; a redder fruit profile than the 2001 “Les Miaux”. Concentrated and supple. Excellent.

@Fred_Lund: At 15 years this Hermitage is really singing. Shy on the nose, but taste is lovely. The opposite of many Bordeaux.
