Book Club (Walt's Wharf): Blind: guessed Petite Sirah. I felt very comfortable with that guess and even after the reveal I'm sticking with PS. LOL. Wow, this wine is amped up, won't be confusing this for Silver Oak.
Dark, dark, and darker. So much so that it's difficult to discern the color but after swirling around the glass it becomes obvious photons are have having issues passing through the glass. The wine coats the glass like a big Napa Petite Sirah, good viscous. The concentration of color and flavor definitely has an intensity to it. Blue and black fruit with 220 grit tannins as a foundation. I enjoyed it.

Served blind. The color of this resembles petite sirah as it stains the inside of the glass. Concentrated. Brewed coffee, grapey, light prune and mocha and some light tobacco leaf. In sum, the first glass was really just primary, like a barrel sample. With more air, this tightened down and also started to throw some heat. I know these wines are expensive, and well-regarded by many and sought after...for me, I just don't appreciate them. I want it to taste like Cab, but it just seems to taste like an amalgam of all things that are part of a modern style.
