  • Fully mental. Not too generous on the nose to start. Some game smoke and dried mango, fig and date. On the palate a melange of dried fruits, fig, apricot, prune, smoked meats, white pepper and dried savory herbs. Good acidity and fresh and lively despite the age.

After open an hour the nose is more generous with notes of cassis, cola, Licorice, and port wine. The palate has become more integrated and the liveliness has calmed down a bit.

  • Nice, needed some decanting but after that you still had beautiful soft tannins coming out together with wood and leather flavours.

  • Really pretty, classic Northern Rhone aromatics from the start -- black pepper and a touch of olive, with a touch of brett as well that didn't really detract; The palate is fairly elegant for Hermitage, with smoky red and dark fruits, although the finish was a bit clipped and astringent; A solid value Hermitage, although certainly not up to par with certain other producers

  • Robe was still quite deep in color for a 20-year wine. The nose was very smoky and powerful upon opening, and opened up after a little while. Still powerful on the palate, though probably past its peak. Still a great wine though.
