  • The 1989 Georges Lignier Clos de la Roche offers really good power and extraction (though not excessive), stylistically very similar to Hubert Lignier. Tasted blind - Maturing dark fruits, earthy and gamey note with a slight peppery nose. Sweet raspberries with savoury and earthy herbs, a textbook Clos de la Roche with dry tannins on the finish. Clos de la Roche 1995? (90/100)

  • Served blind the surprise of the night and my WOTN just pipping the Roumier Bussieres 2002. Cloudy in the glass, sweet soy on the nose, earthy spice. The palate shows maturity but a core sweet fruit which I adored in a relaxed an fully mature wine experience. My blind guess here was Hubert Lignier Clos Roche 95, 96 or 98. Quite amazing to me but the table was somewhat split as some deemed it more rustic old school.
