Lafon’s need time and 12 years is just about right. Opened and decanted this at the restaurant. This wine was absolutely a delight tonight with sushi. Kept evolving in the glass. Beautiful white fruited nose and demonstrating beautiful acidity structure and length on the palate. More stony and minerale edge to this vineyard. Superb

This keeps opening and getting better as it gets to room temperature. No signs of premox. Pale gold color. At one hour it’s pineapple and sweet lemon on the nose and body. Lots of layers of fruit, with a terrific slightly bitter acidic core, hints of candied ginger, minerality and a long long finish. Highly recommend letting this breathe and open. First 30 minutes this was a completely different wine.

Comtes Lafon Virtual Tasting with Lea and Pierre Lafon (Planet Earth): Opened 3 hours before serving, in order to share with other quarantined tasters. Ripe apple throughout with some faint tropical hints, all well supported with very bright acidity that gives a nearly austere finish. Upside from here.

Well sadly I would have to call this bottle more advanced than anticipated; I'm not a premox expert as I don't drink a lot of older white Burg, but this was far more oxidative and less vibrant than anticipated at age 10; the color was golden; the nose showed bruised apple, toasted walnut, and dried floral notes. The palate was not unpleasant, but definitely did not have any lift or vibrancy that I was hoping for. Drinkable, but this bottle definitely seemed prematurely oxidized to me.
