  • Dark red. Cork snapped but wine is fine. Tons of cassis on the nose. Quite thick and grainy on the palate, could have done with a fine strain perhaps. But then again isn't this why you drink these southern bottles, for their rustic charm? It's is thick and chewy with sweet black fruit and spice, and could be described as backwards still, a tad unbalanced, and despite the low 13.5% abv felt on the hot side. My only bottle, #5 from the Wine Society mystery old bottles case. Decent enough, but not the same level as the others from that case which had until this point been uniformly wonderful. Day two and the remaining third had gone significantly downhill - tipped.
