  • From magnum. Bottled June 2005. 90% Tempranillo and 10% Syrah. Cork split and drawn by Durand (pictured). Maintains that dark violet colour but this time with orange edges. Intense aromas of violets and flesh be along with a mineral anthracite note. No flaunts. On the palate it observes enough acidity to balance density of a medium-bodied wine. Elegant silky texture. Decent persistence and delicious aftertaste. The magic of Mariano García back in this bottle. That has life ahead. A RdD, out of the appellation, belonging to its roots. As expected, tons of fine grained sediments

  • A very nice Tempranillo. The 10% Syrah added some mellowing black/blue fruit element. Nothing truly special, but very well done. 30 minutes in the glass completely smoothed this wine out.

  • Vivid dark cherry colour. Truffles, chocolate and blackberry jam aromas. Splendidly chewy on the mouth. The famously harsh tannins of the hot 2003 summer have softened, and the wine is now at its peak, its prime virtues being balance, lusciousness and length. A difficult year is finally coming into its own. Very good. It's a step up from last year, but I don't think it's likely to improve. I think it will hold like this for another couple of years, not the rather optimistic 20 years of life I suggested last year.

  • Wow, what a value. A juicy, complex mix of flavors; including, ripe dark fruits, spice, leather, cured meat, and mineral with ample ripe tannins and a long finish. Seems to engage all taste sensations - sweet, salty, sour, bitter and savory in a pleasurable way.

  • Deep purple garnet. Mocha and plum on the nose. Taste was a smooth Spanish red with some age-duh!-but the finish was taken from childhood memories of alter wine. Weird.
