This bottle suggests this is perhaps coming it’s own after all - it was a nice enjoyable if not great wine tonight. On better form than previous outing only a few months ago. Shows how individual bottes, and/or the perspective of the taster, can vary! Light ruby in color. Medium intensity nose, with - given time and ones concentration - quite a lot going on. Young red fruit of red cherry and raspberry. Some floral even - violet? Herbs of dill, touch of fennel, white pepper, and even candy sitting in the back seat? Secondary vanilla is gently present, as is a touch of tertiary meat and tobacco. Palette is medium + sweet, medium acidity and medium minus gentle tannin and alcohol. Flavors of sweet red fruit and vanilla and fennel. Decent finish. Overall nicely balanced, nice length, and good complexity if you pay attention. Still feels young. And sort of reminded me of a wine that takes some of the easy to sip Santa Barbara California Pinot characteristics (sweet, almost monolithically red cherry-sweet fruit) and then does the Burgundy magic of softening and adding layers of subtle fun and character. In a nutshell, nice, fun, still young, and if you like that sweeter Cali Pinot thing but are tired of its sameness this might be a good intro to the more complex Burgundy world. Oh, and it feels like it still has many years to go.

Improving...but previous note stands. After 90 mins more interesting notes started to show their face and the harshness of initial acid and tannins receded. Some sweet tobacco arrived in the distance - like a Pale Rider far away over the plain that never seems to get much nearer - even with the zoom lens! Nothing to get too excited about yet.

Was hoping to be surprised by this one. Sadly I was left unimpressed, but not completely disappointed. Have had their village and was not impressed (was sold this heavily by Fine & Rare wine, which was not the first time...!) so I had hoped this might change my view on the producer - and F & R's selling machine. It is certainly a cut above the village, and has some of that Chambolle warmth and sweet yet nicely complex light fruit - with a hint of that floral thing at the end - but still some strong acid on the mid pallete and not very subtle overall Chewy medium length mouth feel, but not as smooth as one would hope at this stage. A few more years perhaps? Hope springs eternal!

Earthy slightly animal nose. Entry is fairly dark cherry skins mid-weight and a nice acidic sharpness. Ends equally dark with staining skins and delicate tannins. This is clearly on the dark fruit, animal, earthy side of Chambolle. Should have an interesting and long life.
