Four pairs of wines at Mark's place (Wellington, NZ): Served double blind by me with the 1999 Sigaut Les Sentiers. More bright ruby colour, with garnet highlights. A lighter, more floral bouquet with red berries and cherries, straw and some citrus bite. Also lighter on palate, seeming older and more developed. Red cherries, forest floor, earth and funk. Seeming higher acidity than the 1999, although I expect that’s the better fruit in the 1999. Mark noted the 2000 was “a bit sharp on the finish”. Drinking the last glass the next day, the 2000 was leaner than the night before and beginning to fall over. A vintage to drink earlier than the 1999.

La Paulée de San Francisco - The Verticals (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. In 10/03/00 vertical. From magnum. Red cherry and sweet spice evolving in a charming and elegant manner. I expect that the magnum really helped here.

La Paulée de SF Verticals Tasting (Fairmont Hotel, SF CA): 10/03/00 Vertical, all from Magnum. Maturing aromas of plum, clay and earth. The palate is fully mature and nicely balanced. A charming, earthy Chambolle.

A Slice of La Paulée's 2018 Burgundy Producer Verticals Tasting (The Fairmont, San Francisco): Magnum. Pale, browning. Brett aromas. Lighter body. Some remnant red fruit but harsh and disjointed. Worst of the group by far.
