  • Slightly musty initially but blows off. Fully mature nose displaying concentrated slightly dry sweet red fruit, strawberry jam, cherry pie, leather, tobacco, a hint of sous bois, caramel and earth. It still shows oak, a bit like Rioja gran reserva. Fully integrated palate, subtle but concentrated sweet red fruit, silky and polished, bright acidity, fully resolved tannins and a long sweet red fruit driven finish with a hint of oak at the end. Still drinking nicely.

  • Some Spanish Wines on a Saturday afternoon (Some very old ones) (CB): In contrast to the 83, this was still drinking well. I suppose if I rated it, I might go to 90. The nose has tea and dried cherries. More alive on the palate with cherry juice and dried cherries. Nice acidity. Still quite drinkable if maybe past prime.

  • An incredible bottle of wine, this still has lots of life in it, some bricking but still very much alive, no need to decant , aromatic nose with silky but firm tannins, drank siode by side with 04 Bonnes mares, the 2 wines have much alike and both elegant. A fantastic evening all in all, hats off to this producer, I am a fan for life!

  • Not much nose. Good rich flavor. Wife thinks its past prime. I disagree somewhat. Not a fruity flavor. Spicy, rich, smooth. Opens as it warms. Ed and I like the earthy richness. Smooth finish. Ed says he smells a little cat pee. Martha likes its intensity. Powerful on the tongue. Wife is on her own with the not liking vibe. Three out of four go with its good, firm flavor of earth and rocks.
