  • Fabulous. Drinking beautifully. So smooth and full of life. Deep, candied complex flavors of prunes and dark red fruits. This vintage still has room to develop.

  • By the glass. Soft and sweet on the nose with elegant aromas of cherries and luxury pastry. Dense and abundant in the mouth with depth, tasty and an extraordinary length. After tasting this 'vintage single estate' I can not wait to open my tawny bottle of Noval of this extraordinary although initially reviled vintage.

Litt vandig kant.

    Mørke søte bær på lukt.

Søtt anslag. Mørke søte bær. Søt, uten å være stikkende søt. Velbalansert, søt men ikke før søt, rød frukt men ikke før ung, alkohol men ikke alkoholstikk. Litt alderspreg, men har mange år igjen.

    Litt alkohol, men ikke skjemmende.

Drukket over flere dager. En god portvin, som ble bedre og bedre utover uka.

  • A long wait since I bought this in Portugal. Remarkably young and fresh, enormously complex, with the typical phenolic sweetness, cooked ref berries, spices and herbs. Perfectly structured and balanced. No hurry for the next bottle, perhaps in a decade.

  • Deep garnet in color with slight bricking edge. Nose of dark chocolate, dark cherries, and hint of menthol. Taste of being cherries, dark chocolate, espresso, and hence a vanilla. This is one of the better bottles i had from this vintage. Still young and filled with ripe fruit. Drink over the next 10-20 years.

(VESUVIO Quinta do) Dessert Bargains Dear Friends, Trying to fight jet-lag and it’s getting the best of me. Sometimes I wish you cold snap your fingers to control the sensory controls that dwell within the brain - the place that spearheads the complicated mix of melatonin and other brain chemicals to make you feel awake - would have come in handy during my college exams and certainly right now. Yikes, I’m exhausted....and it’s only 8:00am... We don’t offer dessert wines very often but here are two great bargains that have just been confirmed and both are well under-priced for the market. The Rieussec is a top price/value contender from a vintage that is completely overlooked because it had the misfortune of following one of the greatest vintages in history but, If you are looking for a well-priced split of Sauternes while you wait for your 2001s to fully mature, here you go. The Vesuvio is just a great buy and it is actually drinking really well right now. With a decade of age on the wine, this is a vintage Port you can bring to a special dinner and receive many satisfied stares in your direction. It will continue to age but it’s also a joy to drink at present - especially at this price. Both of these are in perfect condition, cellared under ideal conditions at 55 degrees since release: 2002 Chateau Rieussec (375ml) (WA90 - no tasting note) ...also... 1997 Quinta do Vesuvio (Port) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord8420 Port7900
