  • Vor kurzem Verkostet. Hervorragend in Form hält locker nochmal ca. 10 Jahre. Sehr lecker.

  • Extremely positively surprised. Would’ve gone straight to left bank Bordeaux if blind.

Garnet with a slight brown rim. Dark berries, graphite, cigar box, leather, tobacco. Smells like the chesterfield couch in Winston Churchill’s private library.

Surprisingly youthful palate. Fresh acidity, more fruit than tertiary aromas, structured but smooth tannins. Medium+ length.

I thought this wine would be on the way down, but this could probably last another 3-5 years. That being said, I doubt it will improve.

  • A huge disappointment. Don't buy any of this that they have at Costco. I was hopping that the earlier '08 review would apply to this bottle but Spectator is likely right and this is years past its prime drinking. Drinkable, but out of balnace with muted nose, considerable herbal undertones, little fruit left and not a very pleasant body. Hot harsh finish. A bit of a mess. Kept hoping it would do somehing in the glass but no chance. Maybe just a bad bottle, but I think this stuff is done. Costco would not give me my money back either to add insult to injury.

  • What a pleasant surprise this wine was. Casa Real is Santa Rita's top cuvée, made from selected parcels of vines aged 40 years or more. It is dark crimson in colour, and the nose is intensely fruity - blackcurrant, respberry and just a hint of eucalyptus. Palate offers good extractions and fat, soft tannins. Full bodied without being syrupy or over-extracted, medium length. A very very nice New World Cab that is nice to drink on its own as well as accompanying food.
