  • Outstanding for a 14 yo bottle. Dark garnet in color with slight brixing with complex nose of black current & mild pepper. Deep complex but subtle & balanced flavors of black fruit, cigar box & mild white pepper with smooth tannins - a well balanced merlot blend that has great complexity.

  • Starting to loose it's fruit. Still a nice bottle though.

  • Decanted. Decent amount of sediment. Right out of the bottle it was very fresh and lively. Hints of smoke and brown sugar. Color was deep red. After about three hours in the decanter the color was start to brick. Still a fairly tannic and drying wine, but enough fruit on the back end to balance it out. This wine is drinking really well right now, but it has the stuffing to go on for a while longer. Not sure if it will improve any more though. Would pruchase again.

  • Tasted 11/19/07 about an hour out of the cellar along prior to the 1998 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Bouche. It easily beat it. A full and delicious nose and a medium to full bodied pallet and a nice finish. Don't think it will get much better than it is right now.

  • Great wine that is ready to drink now but can sit for another 5 years and be awesome. Dark garnet in color with complex nose of black current & mild pepper. Deep complex but subtle & balanced flavors of black fruit, cigar box & mild white pepper with smooth tannins - a well balanced merlot blend that has great complexity. This bottle needs about 30 minutes to open up but drinking very well.

Washington Wine Report

  • By Sean Sullivan
2/16/2009, (See more on Washington Wine Report...) ***** points

(Brian Carter Cellars Solesce Columbia Valley) An expressive nose with earth, dried fruit, rose petals, and a potpourri of spices. Beautifully put together with an incredible dose of cranberry that comes on in the mid-palate and remains through the finish. An elegant collision of old and new world styles. Close to its peak.
