  • An unusually narrow neck does not permit insertion of both sides of an ah-so, instead I manage to extract the stubby, tortured cork with a screw. The ample sediment has settled into large sheets which stay in the bottle as I decant. The color is light, nearly an orangish-pink, totally clear at the rim. At first it speaks very quietly, the faintest bit of an old pressed flower but no oxidation and little volatility so I leave it in the decanter for a few hours. By dinner there's a great perfume - dried roses, fennel seed, dried mint, orange peel, a touch of sharpie marker. The palate is lively, tangy, with a push and pull between the bright acidity and whatever tannin somehow remains. Cherry skin, cranberry (the real stuff, like Knudsens), oversteeped red zinger tea, clove(?!), finishing with a brief lick of sweetness. Remarkable, and the kind of wine experience you dream of.

  • Faded to almost an orange colour. Nose has notes of honey, orange rind, pepper, earth and some mint after time in the glass. Palate has more freshness, it is medium bodied and actually has quite good length. Hasn't fallen over, the tannins are just holding it up and it continued to stay steady with time in the glass. Drink now if you happen to have any.
