One of our favorite wines. Worried we’d let it age too long, but it was perfect. We didn’t decant, just watched it change over the 2+ hours we drank it. Well-balanced, definitely in the tobacco/gunsmoke spectum. Over time, picked up mushroom notes similar to a Willamette Pinot Noir.

Late summer of 2013 we drove through Alberta and British Columbia down to Walla Walla Washington. Highly recommend the Okanagan Valley of BC for wine tourists and Banff National park in Alberta for everyone--Walla Walla is worth the trip also. Had lunch at Quail"s Gate in Okanagan (outstanding) with a great wine tour. Had this Marechal Old Foch in the tasting room. Had never heard of the grape but it worked for me. Bought 6 to take home and every bottle was better than the last. This was the last and I can't find a place to buy more--if you know who sells it in the US please add a comment. This bottle had big plummy fruit/black raspberry up front with strong black olive and oregano in the middle. Just a unique wine. Cabernet like with something extra.

Ripe fruit, full-bodied, soft finish.
