This wine keeps growing on me…that nose! Black cherry, hints of charred wheat, coffee, licorice & some reticent vanilla.
It is a lighter, more rustic wine… linear & less supple than their Reserve.
Archetypal of Foch, it has a solid & assertive acid attack with concentrated flavors consistent with the nose. Plenty of American oak on the midpalate, a bit disjointed at this point, lasting well into the finish.
Lengthy, smoky buckwheat finish.

Enjoyed the top half of the bottle around the campfire last nite. Today I can write that is is very dark and viscous. An unusual weedy aspect to the nose along with leather and fruit, I think. Vanilla, plum flavours. Tannin is pleasant and the acid is lemony. Better with wood smoke.

Our Marechel Foch comes from older vines in Osoyoos. This wine has aromas of black fruit, cherry, coffee, s my cigar and earthy savoury complexities as are classically attributable to this grape. Cloves and allspice with lush tannins on a rich round palate. Pair with roasted venison, grilled porcini burgers or pizza with chorizo and mushrooms.
From winery listing.

Dark and rich, smoky and fruity. Better the next day and with strong flavours like sharp cheese
