Deep dark reddish-purple in color. essentially opaque. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, dried herbs, minerals, some spice, olives & a hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, minerals, cocoa & a hint of cedar. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & extended airing but even at 12 years of age, it has potential to develop further with additional aging & could possibly rate even higher (94+).

Better balanced on the palate than the nose would lead you to expect. More black-fruited than red. Not a bad wine by any means, and probably should be considered a success given the vintage, but not enough acidity for what I am looking for in Sangiovese.

Not the best bottle so far. The wine has lost complexity. Is it already too old, or did I just open a below average bottle?

Nice 100 % Sangiovese Super Tuscan: sour cherry, leather, prune, clove, soft raisin, raspberry, medium body, acidic Sangiovese finish. Drink up.
