I suggested my mate to decant the wine in order to retire sediments from the bottle. He filtered the wine using a clean cloth napkin. Then what I thought it was artificial cherry aroma, chewy gum, small pharmacy, it really was industrial softener. Horrible. Too much tannic on the palate. At this stage, passé.

I think that this bottle was at the tipping point before imminent break-up. Its nose and quite full bodied palate were very evolved, rich and very expressive with complex aromas of anise, tar and liquorice as well as residual mature fruit but there was a hint of stewed cabbage which is a bad sign though by no means assertive enough yet to spoil enjoyment.
