For an Australian wine drinker these styles are full of interest given they are so different from the local mainstream. Flint, smoke and faint wet wool on the nose. Bitter stone fruit edge as well. Bitter fruits though the palate, quite harsh early but they are softened with some aged honey notes around the edge. Flinty minerals too, and this aspect is quite striking. Lemon and acid to finish. Middle aged and I would have no problems re-visiting in 4 years time.

Opened and served at 10C. Medium straw yellow, clear wtih brilliant reflections. Not a very powerful bouquet, but some citrus and faint floral notes. Lively attack with a crisp, acidic mouthfeel and a moderately long finish, with good balance between fruit notes and a pleasant lemony acidity. Overall a refreshing and pleasant sauvignon from the upper Loire. 50+5+10+16+8=89.

Fairly weighty Sauvignon - towards the lemon end of the flavour spectrum, no great complexity but no shortage of intensity.
