(Not a) birthday dinner (Hinsdale, IL): A very different wine to the Chave alongside. This is far lighter, wispier, and more acid-driven, and there is more of an old-school Rhone rusticity to this. It's feral, wild, and meaty. The palate, in comparison to the perfumed nose, comes off a bit short and light, with a dominating acidity. Delicious, but unfortunately paled in comparison to the Chave.

A bit tired. Time to drink up. Fruit has faded. A bit too much acidity left.
