Last of 12, opened 30 minutes then splash decanted, soaked spongey cork but perfect level, previous bottles to 08 VG or better - garnet, lightening rim; smokey bacon, some plum fruit, bit of VA prickle, earth notes, herbs; medium, bit short, acid edge unattractive, fruit diminished rapidly in glass, needs food, well past its best, drink up. G+ (15.5).

Noble Rot: Mostly tertiary notes of mushroom and truffle now and the nose and palate could be easily mistaken for a Bordeaux with dark and dense red fruit save for a hint of pepper. In great shape for its age.

Rhone Dinner (Bobo): This was quite a treat to try, as I really love this producer. Next to the '82 Champet, the color here is much darker and denser. A bit of the Northern Rhone funk on the nose. The palate is dark fruited and very savory, with some peppery spice. Drinking really well now - but imagine this will still hold for a while. One of my favorites of tonight's line up.

Rhone May Dinner (Bobo): For some this was the WOTN and it was definitely a really nice wine. Lots of meat and iron. Better structure than I sometimes find in Hermitage and yet lots of power. There was almost a hint of effervescence at the beg when first poured, but that went away pretty quickly.

Rhone Dinner @The Shish Kebab House (West Hartford, CT): There was good underlying material here, but alas, slightly corked.
