Monthly Tasting Group HWS: Chateauneuf du Pape vs Gigondas (By me): Rustic bouquet with garrigue and chocolate. On the palate juicy ripe fruits, good acidity, chocolate, garrigue and tannin with still some bite. Beautiful wine which is ready now. No extreme hurry.

Bought it for 37 Euros at the estate. Great powerful nose with black fruits and earty mineralic notes. Great minerality and nice play of ripened fruit and acidity. Very long. No apparent flow. Pret a bois for the next 2-3 yrs.

Dry and smooth with initial earth tones that become more berry like as the wine opens up. Medium bodied. Nice levels of flavor both in each sip and over time with each pour - first drink to last drink quite a bit different.

Medium bodied and very well balanced.
Raspberry and Blackberry fruits in an understated way with good minerality which puts you right in the middle of the road.
Good match with dinner steak.

Very enjoyable and well made. Tasted very similar to a right bank Bordeaux. Young but within its drinking window.
