90 minute decant. Nose of red currant, notes of red plum, and lots of silt. Black plum and black pepper start the medium bodied palate, fades into a line of silt, then re-asserts itself with a buildup of graphite / pencil lead. Light sawdust starts the finish, with round, resolved tannins leading into dried cherry, dried apricot and loads of dried thyme and summer savory. Clay and light oak notes finish things off. Drink now through 2029.

The wine was transformed to a bottle of leather, cedar, forest, really earthy nose and taste with, in my opinion, limited fruit. Not particularly intense either. But enjoyable.

Darker purple in the glass but quite soft and not overdone on the palate. A surprisingly quaffable young St Julien. A crowd pleaser.
