  • Can’t smell a damn thing, but lovely mouth feel, soft and slightly sweet squashed blueberry then a warm toast and dry grippy tannins on the finish, which then softens again with a caramel cigar end. Very very lovely

  • Forward nose of dark chocolate, ripe black plums, toasted five spices and sweet vanilla. Palate echoed the nose, it is rich and smooth after 1 hr of decanting. Medium to full-bodied, fresh, supple and rounded in a rather opaque structure. Very dark. Still young with grippy tannins. Finish is chalky. Very nice nose but finish could be better.

  • we all thought this was pretty quintessential St Emilion. Purchased bottle at the chateau on a visit in 2016. Double decanted it about 2 hours before leaving for the restaurant. it was dark fruited but fresh, with spice and cigar. not overtly oaky but the influence is there, not heavy or over-extracted. very enjoyable and paired nicely with duck and pork chops that were ordered at the table. not a rush to open if you've got it but was a really tasty drink now.

  • The wine was aerated 2 hours in a carafe before the tasting. The garnet-red color is limpid and of a good concentration. A very beginning of evolution is barely visible. The nose is expressive & really interesting: exuberant black fruits, coffee beans, a touch of tar, light blond tobacco & even some autumnal smells. After a few glasses Madame believes she is picking mushrooms… On the palate, the attack is round and smooth, with a nice sweetness of ripe grapes. The mid-palate is superbly fruity. The fruits are fleshy and juicy. The retro-olfaction reveals delicate floral aromas and some liquorice. Real explosion of perfumes! The material is velvety and muscular. Medium++ body. Obviously the oak aging is still marked at this stage but it's totally at the service of the wine. The tannic structure is consistent and requires a few more years to settle down. The freshness is revealed at the end of the mouth and brings this extra energy to a really very long length. A beautiful bottle, balanced & harmonious, to let age a little bit. Nice potential! 89pts.

  • Coffee bean, jammy cherries, licorice, truffle and blackberry notes open to a dark cherry, stone and licorice filled wine with a sweet, kirsch finish. 87-90 Pts
