Color: dark garnet, dark cherry edges Nose: cedar, smoke, violets, candied dark cherry, brine Palate: leather, tobacco, earth, gravel, pepper spices Mouthfeel: bold tannins and acid, long, dry finish, very grippy 11 years old but still packing a punch

Not getting much Cabernet Franc character, no pyrazines, very very light bell pepper, no cedar, a little leather in the aromas. Sure this is ripe & balanced, although in a modern style i would expect from California. No hard edges, this is a CF for the masses.

Soft tannins, moderate bodied, moderate finish. Red fruit, earth, some herbaciousness. Another delicious wine from Barboursville. Paired with short ribs and creamy polenta.

Enjoyed this more than the previous bottle. Every aspect of the wine was more integrated and smoother than before. Medium body, lovely herbaceous bouquet and a considerably long, multifaceted finish.

Really liked this wine. Not an "A" level vino, but a strong "B". Herbaceous from bouquet through a medium length finish with a touch of complexity. Very food friendly. Drinking very well now; given the light to medium body, I would bet that the window is now and for the next two to three years.
