Golden color. Complex nose of under-ripe nectarines, citrus zest and brown sugar. Rich, full and totally dry. ZH feel yet versatile. Mature and impactful. I like this a lot - there is a bitterness on the finish that actually makes this quite good. Going strong at age 20. (90)

The Rotating Dinners, I.8: Alsace (Chicago, IL): Nowhere as good as the 1994, although there are many similar elements here -- very nice stone fruit, the freshness, and a good acidic backbone. On the other hand, it's seems that this wine is a bit riper, and with that, this loses a bit of the elegant leanness, even though this doesn't seem to be quite as sweet as the 1994.

Brown Bag Wine Dinner at Two Chefs - Double Blind (TWO CHEFS, MIAMI, FL): The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are slow. It smells like lemon, apricot, mineral, stoniness, honeysuckle and honey. The body is full. The wine has bright texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity. Bob's wine, courtesy of Al. Held since release and 3 bottles left. still holding up amazingly well. Lime peel and hint of petrol on the nose. Gorgeous mouth feel. looking forward to the other 3 but not too long.

I really enjoyed this wine. One of the better aged ZH experiences I have had recently. Ten years ago I thought these wines were the best whites wines in the world. But they have been terribly inconsistent with moderate age with many being downright awful. Here we have a wonderful combination of fresh Riesling fruit, honeyed richness and a long finish. Balanced, firm wine that just glides down the palate. Showing some mature notes, this is really just perfect tonight. Loved it. (94)
