shared about 1/4 of the bottle at opening, the remainder enjoyed the next day after being stored overnight in a smaller bottle with no airspace, total equivalent time "open" in a partially filled bottle about 4 hours for the note below.
medium red color with young rim, at first opening pure cherry and spice on the nose, stern and closed, elements present and evident but not harmonized, rapidly shut down almost completely, at 4 hours equivalent open time- punchy cherry fruit on the nose, reluctant clove and dark spice notes, on the palate beautifully punchy ripe cherry and cassis fruits with violet notes on the center of the palate- surrounded by a stern and forbidding closed structure that remains in hiberation, fine length with closed fruit and spice notes oak still ameliorating but in its proper place, here and there are hints of of the great layers of spice and forest that will show in due course- but for now this is only showing a portion of the grand sexy fruit common to the many great wines Jadot produced in 2012, it was nice to see this progressing but it is still in deep sleep and after a recent encounter with one of the Beaune reds which was similarly reluctant I should have known better. If you have this, be glad you do- but please wait at least 5 years before tasting it, this is behaving a lot like many great 2002s in that it is evolving at a glacial pace.
(****), 2028++, but I am thinking realistically 2032 might be the best time to tuck in.
