S$100-$150 open theme: Obviously a Burgundy. Was similar to the 2013 village from the same producer that I tried the other week, so made the same mistake to place this as a Vosne because of the five-spice note. Quite closed at first, but with air the floral notes began to show. Silky and elegant dark red fruit, had a fuller, rounder body compared to the 2013. Apparently the village is priced higher than this at the domaine, but the Charmes is clearly the better wine on the evidence of this. Still very primary, guessed 2016 for the vintage. Excellent and should really seek out more of this producer.

Liked this much more than the 2011. Very perfumed, although I still find the flavour lacking for the price. I'm much happier with this vintage though and look forward to seeing it evolve. By no means a knock out, but less disappointing.

Bought at domaine. Opens up nicely but does promise more than it delivers right now. Slightly spicy nose with cedar. White pepper, leafy tannins and distinct minerality on the palate. Not the sexiest or most voluptuous of Chambolles but very refined. Very young, even slightly green, will wait at leat two years before opening the next.

Vins de Bourgogne Tasting (The Wine Club, San Francisco): Tight nose. Palate initially a bit confected and oaky, with somewhat aggressive, astringent tannins. Improves with air, developing a more savory character, but still a pass for me.

Nice but a little rustic for a Chambolle Premier Cru I think
