  • Pours a cherry red. On pop and pour earth dominates and it’s slightly thin. But after 30m dark red fruits come to the forefront with herbs and earth adding complexity and the body fills out to med-. Nice acidic spine with well integrated tannins. Finishes long.

  • This is my second bottle, and while I agree with Keith's note, I feel that the "lack of stuffing" is very pronounced. My first bottle was far more interesting, and I continue to feel that there is much more bottle variation in '12s than '10s. So I'm averaging my score, 88 here, 90 first bottle.

  • This is a silkier, more elegant vintage of the Chapelle, at least relative to the 2010, which was really in my zone, as well as the 2009, which I found over-the-top, but in both cases I think there was more stuffing there than here. This would've shown better if I'd opened it with white meat or even fish or something else where a lightweight presence and loose-knit structure is called for. It's an excellent wine in that idiom but lacks some of the solidity and grip it has offered in other years. It's not imbalanced at all, and the trademark stony mineral flavors are still here, it's just a slimmer version of its usual self.

  • Just like my last bottle, fragrant and elegant with bright red fruits, earth, and gentle floral notes on a very graceful frame. There's some grainy tannin on the back end and plenty of acidity beneath keeping it very lively and fresh, and it keeps getting more layered with air as the fruit flavours deepen and the savoury elements pick up in intensity. Good value.

  • Bright cherry on the nose, herbs, pretty; nice body. Fairly simple, but very nice. But of sourness and mineral; medium finish. Nice.
