  • deep purple color, poached plums on the nose, dark fruits, cherry, an intense chalky/stone note, on the palate plum and black cherry, perfectly ripe, deep, velvety, tannins and chalk notes fully coated by the fruit, great length with good complexity showing already, this is superb wine but note it is very much marked by the vintage and so I think it will take a great deal of time to shed some of that and settle into a savory old age.

  • Dark fruit, with some spice. Nice material, though at the moment this is quite big and the oak is prominent. Looking forward to trying more of this producer (and with a little more age).

  • Nice nose with spice, earth and also perfumed. There's black cherries and currant and the fruit is just lovely with nice sweetness with a medium finish with good acidity.
I have never tasted a Auxey-Duresses before and I guess my fear was that it lacked elegance, but it doesn't and its clean and almost a cool pinot.
I have been told that this is best when its 4-5 years, and although its not closed, you feel its hidding something.
