Lafouge's lovely 1969 Auxey-Duresses La Chapelle is fully mature and drinking beautifully. A complex bouquet of dried red cherry, rich cocoa, truffle and subtle coffee is followed by a deep, full-bodied and savory palate, still framed by a firm chassis of chalky tannins. Displaying none of the roasted, malty qualities which this vintage sometimes reveals, this wine is holding up admirably.
