  • Colour fairly deep ruby. An attractive, stereotypical Gevrey bouquet (everyone at dinner picked this wine as Gevrey on bouquet alone). A pure and lifted, red fruited nose with warm earth, underbrush and spice notes. On palate, a lovely wine, in a traditional and leaner style. Below medium weight lacking the profound concentration, depth and power you might expect from this Grand Cru climat (some tasters had this as the 1er and the Lavaux it was tasted with as a young Grand Cru). But, to me, this has sufficient depth and concentration and a lovely acid balance. Flavours of red berries, warm earth and nice savoury elements to finish, tannins nicely integrated. A great food Burgundy. Enough structure and fruit weight for medium term cellaring (8-10 years) or drink now. Great QPR if you like this style. 92.
