  • Opened and decanted to remove plentiful solids in the bottle. Drank with dinner and left the bottle open for a little sample over the day. Resealed bottle and tries the next day. The beautiful fruit disappeared and was replaced with something that tasted over-oxidized. The wonderful wine of our meal now became one of the main flavor ingredients in a beef stew which itself tasted great.

  • Maybe an awkward period but the fruit and acid did not balance as some notes highlighted.

  • Outstanding wine. Nose was incredible, with evolving aromas of red to dark fruit (blackberry), forest floor, feet, hints of funkiness, herbs. Palate with fine tannins that clean the palate and give way to waves of crisp blackberry and cherry with herbs and hints of spice that seem to have a second wave of flavors 30-45 seconds later. Incredibly long finish. This is one of the most outstanding wines we've enjoyed this year. This bottle overall seemed very fresh and the color was dark purple without bricking, properly stored this vintage has years ahead of it.

  • Convincing effort. Complex, not heavy. great.

  • Note taken after an hour open. Cork was in perfect condition. Wine is still a dark purple, no browning. Nose showed musty pine forest grove, faint red berry, tobacco, along with a mineral earthiness.
In the mouth is is quite smooth with abundant dark fruit, including ripe Bing cherry and blackberry at first that transitions to raspberry and sour cherry on the finish where leather and sandalwood flavors emerge as well. Slightly dry tannin emerge on the finish too that is not too distracting.

Overall, this wine needed time to open up. Not seeing any of the stewed fruit other tasters have noted, but I could see the ripe fruit up front getting stewed eventually. I was actually hoping for more as it doesn't seem to be showing the best tonight and maybe needs more time to integrate as it could be in the stage where it is still losing its muscular youth and moving toward Burgundy like elegance.

This bottle was purchased upon release and stored in a temp controlled cellar. I will hold my other bottle until 2026.
