Opened by Otis for dinner at Vie. First time I have had a wine from this producer. Ruby red color. Aromas of caraway seed and roses on the nose. An earthy wine with black pepper and red berry notes. Solid acidity held everything together. 92-93 points.

Nice nose of pretty typical Gevrey combo of flowers and earth, good on entry and mid palate, but after entry the pleasant flavors dissipate and turn somewhat acidic, and finish is even more acidic. Not unpleasant, but not the big blockbuster bright fruit some 03's have featured. Finish is somewhat long but not pleasant. Leaves a bit of a tart aftertaste.

Knightsbridge Holiday Burgundy Sale (Northbrook, IL): Lush, ripe fruit, reasonably balanced for a 2003 Gevrey Grand Cru, but still clearly too 2003 for my preference. Big and robust to start through the middle, then somewhat short on the finish.
