Almost exceedingly good. Still a good extracted Cabernet colour although there was a slight bricking to the edge. The nose was a tad reserved but blackberry and a hint of vanilla were there. The palate showed well integrated tannins and whilst there is evidence that this wine has reached its plateau, it also has a good future of 5-10 years ahead. So why almost? Well it was a nice elegant, dare I say feminine wine as I might about a Margaux compared to a Pauillac, but for me ultimately it did not have the power I would have hoped for as demonstrated by the rather short finish.

Dark fruit, eucalyptus, slightly earthy and herbal, smoky. Firm tannic structure on the palate but generous, ripe fruit paired with good acidity. This is well balanced but a little tight at this stage. Needs time. 91-92+

Check-up on Australia with Tim Wildman, MW (Adelaide/Barossa): Dark purple. Quite ripe nose, dark fruit, blackberry jam, brooding with a little minty note at the end. On the palate this is very dense, ripe and polished with much riper fruit than the Coonawarra sample next to it, strong but silky tannins at the end. Medium length.

Cabernets at their best (8 Danks street, Sydney): ripe blackcurrant, herbaceous, eucalyptus notes, spice, slight cream and vanilla notes, slight bramble and yeast extract notes. A bit dusty as well. Black fruit that is almost slightly burnt. Slight mid palate scoop. Tight tannin, especially on the front of the mouth, a bit of spice, drops away quite quickly. meh
