  • Aged Drouhin wine dinner at Hua Ting. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru and Rona.
Appearance is mildly cloudy, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of killed animal decaying carcass on forest floor earth (love this smell combi), leather, dark Chinese herbs, red cherries underneath. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), smooth medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet red cherries, meaty animal carcass, decaying earth, dark herbs, touch of licorice. Medium+ enxtening to long finish with more air.
Very good quality. There is good Grand Cru body, but fruit starting to thin out a little already. Drink up. All of us guessed correctly that this was the 2004 Musigny.

  • nose - beautiful and perfumed, spice inflected, 'intoxicating fragrance'
mouth - very elegant. complex bitter red fruits and perhaps a touch light in mouthfeel. only after tasting it in relation to the other Musignys could i perceive the herbal/greenness. It wasnt the best but it was the most ready to drink of the lot.

  • Third time tasting, on flower day, and how floral it is. Sweetness that persists with evident 04 pyrazine and bug characters. Fruit on the light side. Textured and linear reflective of the terroir. Very skillful is how I would describe the wine, even if the vintage is the constraint. 93-94

  • {Brought by SO to dinner with myself, LT, DE} Stunning, achingly beautiful, forever length and astonishing balance. A bit tight when first poured but within 15-20 minutes, singing. Chambolle spice to the nose, aristocratic complex sophisticated rose petals and ... words fail, as 'Water.Into.Wine' said, "almost every flower you could imagine." Medium bodied, plush red velvet and the Musigny palate of minerals as well, deep as the ocean.

No green stuff (nor in a prior bottle SO brought to my house for a Musigny tasting in 2018 or 2019). Hands down the best 2004 Burgundy I've hand. Score may be conservative. Wonderful. Ready to drink now but will age for a long, long time.

  • ALL Musigny Night (Taichung, Taiwan): A bit grassy on the nose initially yet gradually disappears over time, this simultaneously evolves into hedonistic floral scents. This is not done in a powerful/concentrated style, but rather in an elegant, pure, and exquisite one. (With nice substance support it). This 04 Drouhin Musigng feels like a woman in her early 40s with classic Chanel. 95pt
